How to get short listed Resume Format

Personal Statement Your Personal Statement must be of 5-8 lines, defining your exposure regarding your Field and areas of experience, but not your professional skills, it should define your professional personality, your attributes, your goals; it should describe what you are where you want to be, how and what will your contribution to your organization to achieve organizational goals. Describe yourself in such a way that you are the ONE, the employer is looking for and you will be a good addition in their staff. Personal and professional achievements should not be included here Your professional skills should not be added here Achievements It includes your professional achievements what you have achieved, what was your contribution to your previous employers, whats the contribution to your current employer. You may add your personal achievements here like extra ordinary academic performance, getting top position, any research work, and any social work that is admirable etc. It should not contain your future plans related to your current employer or any thing which you are working on or any thing that is in process. It should not exceed half of a page (if you are having experience not more than 5years) Career Summary Here you are suppose to include all your professional skills, areas of experience , personal skills and abilities wrapping in attractive and professional terminologies. Like Recruitment specialist, Material management, Fleet Management, Negotiation skills, Media Management etc. You may include your skills that are not directly related to your field. Like knowledge of ISO; International Rules it will show that your knowledge is not limited only to your specific field. Experience Start from the most recent, your tenure must include month and Year. Your Title, Title of your Boss, Your key responsibilities only 4-5 bullets (do not copy paste your whole JD). Employer is interested what are you doing right now, so here you can add 5 bullets but only 2 bullets for rest of your experiences that you gonna add after the most recent. Type of employer also be mentioned like FMCG, Pharma etc. If you are promoted, describe separately with designation and tenure in the same month and year format. Education Start with the most recent, degree title, institution name and years must be included Technical Education/Qualification/Skills Here you can add your extra qualification and professional courses that you have done. Like I.T courses, Accounting courses, Diploma etc.

Trainings/Workshops Include trainings and workshops that you have attended. Include all whether In-House or Out-Side Other Skills Here you can add your skills like Interpersonal, verbal communication, Presentation, Written Communication, other languages etc. Personal Details Here you can add your personal details, father name, religion, date of birth (not age), contact details and marital status etc. Do not include your NIC, Passport number and complete address as these details can be misused. References Do not provide references on your resume, as they can be misused. You may provide in your meeting. You may use phrase Available on request

Things not to do when applying for a Job Many of the fresh guys do photocopies of one single resume and send to many employers for various positions, for example an MBA(Marketing) is applying for the Marketing position and Sales position with the same resume. DO NOT DO THAT! Prepare separate resume for every position according to the need of that position. Do not send your resume in small/DL envelope, send it in an A4 size envelope and get printed the address on envelope as it will directly received by Manager HR not by the HR executive or Assistant/Clerk. (A4 size envelope shows imperativeness so no Jr. Officer gonna open it) Do not use Capital letters for your headings like PERSONAL STATEMENT capital words mean Shouting you will see all the sign boards in capital letter like STOP !,NO PARKING, so are you gonna shout on the reader? I used capital letters above DO NOT DO THAT! There shouting was necessary. Use at least 12 to13 size fonts, use formal fonts not informal as CV is a formal document. Every thing cannot be important, do not bold/underline various words in your CV (except than headings), as its shows importance. A maximum of 2-3 words can be bold/underline on a single page. Use Italics only for Titles, Names of Institutions, Titles of books or any foreign word if you have used in your document Avoid jargons. Do not lie. Lie only If you are enough confident to prove it truth ;)

There are many things that could be included or excluded accordance to the nature of the Job/Candidate portfolio. You can make it better!
