Thursday July 7, 8am Protest by Federal Parliament House staff in Canberra Parliamentary Services staff will walk off the job for four hours tomorrow morning to protest the lack of progress on their pay claim. Members of both the Community and Public Sector Union and the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union will be involved. Staff will walk out through the House of Representatives doors at 8am. They will then hold a protest meeting at 8.15 on Federation Mall to discuss their concerns. Staff will return to work at 12 noon. Services affected will include: guide services for visitors, library, Hansard and audio-visual services. Staff are protesting an offered pay increase of 3 per cent p.a, which is less than the CPI, no improvements to support parents and carers and no movement towards pay equity with staff in the Department of the Senate.
