ONTARIO HELPING JOBSEEKERS SUCCEED

McGuinty Government Helps People Looking For Work Get Job Experience
Ontario will help the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce and the Capitol Centre with projects that will ensure two job seekers develop skills and experience that will help them succeed. The North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce has hired a jobseeker to put together a digital record of the collection at the Quintuplets Museum and create an interactive virtual exhibit. The Capitol Centre has hired a jobseeker to develop, plan and coordinate a series of workshops featuring local artists, and to promote the art and artists of Northern Ontario. The McGuinty government is providing $21,997 in support for both of these projects. Building a skilled and educated workforce is an important part of the McGuinty government's Open Ontario plan to strengthen Ontario's economy and create more jobs. By investing in our people and our community, were creating more opportunities for growth in Nipissing, said Monique Smith, MPP for Nipissing. Were helping more people find the education and training that will lead to the jobs they need, so that Ontario will have a competitive edge in securing a strong economy, said John Milloy, Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities. The important historical value of the miracle birth of the Dionne Quints cannot be lost on our region. With the new technologies of today, we can now protect and ensure the artefacts and documents are available to the digital world, by increasing its accessibility and our ability to expand our audience. With the support of the provincial government, this time consuming duty can now be a priority to ensure the safeguard of the collection, said Patti Carr, Executive Director for the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce.
