Week 2 Day 2

Aligning with the Big Picture Today:


Students will receive some direct instruction on MI Theory today. It will confront some beliefs they may have about intelligence.

Objectives and Road Blocks:


Students understand Gardner's understanding of intelligence in contrast to the historical view of intelligence.

Materials & Equipment:


Journals PowerPoint on MI Theory Whiteboards (optional)

Students are deeply embedded with a notion of what it means to be smart and so redirecting their thinking process will take time

Management Check:
There will be interaction pieces between the teacher and student today. Close to every slide has some kind of activity for students to do. This will break up the extended instructional time. The think/pair/share model needs to implemented effectively. I prefer to use white board for the students to write down their thoughts. Obviously, white boards can be misused.

Post the warm up activity on the board: What comes to your mind when you think of the word intelligence. Write as much as you can in a 2 minutes. Direct the students to share with someone sitting beside them. Then have the students share out heir thoughts.
