SO MOVING ON TO THE CASE WE HAVE

After doing his graduation from an esteemed engineering college Raj joined Birla Consultancy Services. Soon after his training, he was allotted a Billing Project. Raj worked hard to understand the entire workflow of the billing process. Most of the times, the mentor assigned to him was unable to help him as he had his own list of issues. Raj had to look around for help. At this moment he met Neelesh, who helped him in understanding and solving the issues. Soon they became friends. Now whenever he faced issues he went to Neelesh as he felt that he was smarter, friendly, helpful and more intelligent than his mentor. As it was a billing project Raj observed that it was a general notion among the male workforce that women in the team would not contribute much to the project as it demanded night shifts and weekend supports. Raj got wo--rried as his module had a lot of women. But at the end of the month he was surprised to see that there was a lot of significant contribution and they even agreed to come on weekends without any argument. Within months Raj found that his team had some very good hockey players. As Raj was a state and college level player he approached them and soon they formed a group. They also shared the same interest in music. Their common interests helped him bond with them.

Raj hadn t quite understood the entire workflow but he started enjoying his work as Neelesh was always there to help him out. However, his Project Manager wanted him to handle more responsibility so he called and asked him to handle the entire business module as the owner. Raj was just a part of this module and now he was being asked to take the ownership. He felt very uncertain about this and wanted to say no, but the Project Manager said that he had seen his work and had a lot of faith in his talent. Raj was not sure but he agreed to the proposal and started working as the Module Lead. Raj started liking his new responsibility and soon he found out that he was better at handling people and was able to successfully manage the team. As the end of the financial year the appraisal process was concluded for the project. Raj got a very good rating of 4 out of 5. He was thrilled however he was shocked to see that Neelesh had got only 2. He was unable to understand the difference in the beginning but soon he realized that it must have been the result of his dedicated effort that he had invested in the project.
