Help ============================================================= If the above information does not resolve your issues then please use the EA Technical Help file situated in Start menu > Programs > EA Sports > EA SPORTS(TM) Rugby 08 > Technical Support. ============================================================= 9. Hints & Tips ============================================================= Player Movement: You can continue to sprint by holding down either the spacebar or Button 8.

However, even professionals grow tired, so keep an eye on where your support is, and don't go running off on your own; otherwise, the ball can get turned over. Rucks: As everyone knows, forwards just bundle themselves into rucks without any thought to their personal safety. As a result, if you have possession of the ball, your role is that of scrum half responsible for your team's next move. You have the choice of passing to your backs (A or D / Button 5 or 6), jinking around the side of the ruck (E or Q / Button 1 or 3), or kicking (W / Button 4). If a ruck forms and you don't have possession of the ball, you'll be in control of someone on the defensive line. You can change who to control (Left Shift / Button 7) so you can be ready at any point in the line. Closely watch the opposing scrum half as he reveals subtle clues as to the way he is goi ng to pass. With a bit of patience, you can get an interception as he passes it out , or if you're quick, you can tackle the fly half behind the gameline so that he l oses ground! Scrums: Winning a scrum cleanly and effectively requires a lot of skill, timing, and button presses! Pick your set play or defensive line-up. Wait until the forwards pack down then feed the ball into the scrum (S / Button 2). You then have to qui ckly hook the ball (Q / Button 1) and drive (hold down arrow keys / directional butto ns). Time it right and you'll start going forward. Time it wrong and you could be dri ven back possibly resulting in a collapse of the scrum! Once the ball is at the No. 8's feet and you cannot drive any further, activate the set play (A or D / Button 5 or 6) to watch your backs do their thing. If you find the opposition has worked out the set play then you can take control at any time by just running in a different direction (press arrow keys / directional bu ttons). Lineouts: Although difficult to master, they are a beauty to watch when everything goes ri ght! Similar to the scrum, timing is essential. You can control both the hooker and j umper to win the throw-in; otherwise, the ball is caught by the opposing team or throw n over the top of the line. The easiest person to throw to is the number 1 jumper at the front of the lineou t. When you're ready to make the throw, press the Down arrow key or directional but ton to watch the forwards move into action. When the jumper is being lifted, press S or Button 2 and the hooker throws it right to him. Once you have mastered throwing to the front of the lineout, you can try throwin g to the middle (E / Button 3) and back (W / Button 4) of the lineout.

Kicking: Be careful in open play when kicking as the opposing team closes down on you ver y quickly! Make sure you have plenty of room between you and the opposition; otherwise, you can end up face down in the dirt! When placekicking, closely watch the kicking gauge as it shows you how strong th e wind is and in what direction it is going. To take a placekick, move the arrow around wi th the arrow keys or directional buttons, then press S or Button 2 to start and stop th e kick gauge in the accuracy zone. ============================================================= 10.
