On March 6th, 2011, United Mountain Defense volunteers William Wilson and Natalie Greene visited oil and gas well sites in Morgan County, operated by Atlas Energy, Knox Energy and/or Consol Energy. We found several violations on these sites including: foamy, sediment laden water flowing into Big Mtn. Creek a gas or chemical container left open damaged containment liners

With this complaint, we request a formal site visit of these sites and other nearby sites operated by Atlas Energy, Knox Energy, and Consol Energy. Atlas Energy Well GPS 36 02.471-84 22.137 Visited 3-6-2011 This well was down an unmarked road on the north side of 62 in Morgan County, just outside of Oliver Springs.

The green arrow marks the position:

Note the damaged liner in this picture.

This tank is leaking something from the top. Next picture is a closeup.

The hillside was also severely eroded with inadequate prevention measures.

Consol Energy GPS 36 03 40.3 084 22 29.9 Visited 3-6-2011 This site was up Big Mountain Hollow Road, on the north side of Hwy 62 just outside of Oliver Springs. The green arrow marks where the photos were taken.

There was lots of erosion, and foamy water running into Big Mountain Creek alongside the road:

This container was open to the air and rain.
