TOURISM IN GOA- A DECENTRALISED AND INCLUSIVE MODEL FOR SPREADING TOURISM ALL ACROSS GOA AND ALSO MOVE

AWAY FROM SEA FRONT BASED EXISTING MODEL. TOPIC 6

The present model followed in Goa for attracting tourist, particularly foreign is to emphasise the beaches and the sea. Based on this model substantial investment has been made by hotels and tourist industry. This has created its own problems of uneven growth and also very seasonal traffic. One approach to the issue of sustaining tourist has been the idea of encouraging small hotels in villages (which are essentially old bungalows which are very grand but in various stages of disrepair). Could these be organized better? Can there be a business model which allows for individual freedom but at the same time ensures some element of standardization/quality assurance as well as reliability and safety. If such a model were to be found, then how will it be managed? What are the financial and other challenges? How to market these hotels? What about reservations, other services like food and beverages. Etc. there are very many issues which can make or mar the success of this idea. The group will work on this and come out with a plan . Such an idea can change Goa s economy as well as image
