THE SIGNS OF HYPOCRITES?

In the name of Allah; the most beneficent; the most merciful.

[“In their hearts is a disease, and Allah increaseth their disease. A painful doom is theirs because they lie”]

Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala has explained us the signs of the hypocrites. And in the previous holy verses he
gave us the form of the descriptions. He told completely the description of the hypocrite that how to know
them. We have also been told that how do they act and how we can recognize them in our practical society.
To one of these signs Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala told us some of their signs. He says -

-(in their hearts is a disease, and Allah increases their disease. A painful
doom is theirs because they lie) that those people they were asked to be clean in their hearts. Their sickness
is in their heart. Why Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala said their sickness is in their hearts? We may have this
sickness. We do have sicknesses: that is partly sickness in our body that is eye or ear or nose or legs or
stomach and then there is sickness of the heart. And the sickness is divided into two entities. We have
spiritual sicknesses and we also have material sicknesses. Most of the people have the material sickness, the
sickness we can see such as wound or such as stomach pains or headache. And we meticulously pay
attention to them. And when someone undergoes a pain in the stomach or experiences a headache they
always tend to be medically checked by a certified doctor or take some kind of medicine in order to get rid
of it. Phenomenally the sickness of the heart is the sickness that we don't feel or undergo any physical pain.
That's why we look into the holy Quran. Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala always emphasizes about the sickness
and the purification of the heart. This needs to be purified with a view to purgation in order to be able to
take the body to its right path. And that's why we look into the Hadith of the messenger of Allah, he said
“there is a peace of need in the body of human being and that peace of need is purified and guided and is
clean”. He further said, “The entire body is also clean”. If the heart is clean you see what comes in the
worldly life whatever a man is leading a worldly life if the heart is clean then you can see with the eyes and
the person looks to the way is surely clean. If the heart is clean then the person listens by the spirit that is
always clean. If the heart is clean you see the legs the man uses to walk on them is always clean. And what
I mean by clean I don't mean by material clean by washing. No! I mean by clean is that you see those
disciplines which always pleases Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala and that's what I mean by clean. Because
according to the holy Quran and Hadith of the prophet it is very important to keep the heart clean with the

notion of purgation and purification. Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala attests this notion in his holy Quran at
different places with clear examples. And Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala is a supporter of the Hadith. So Allah
Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala is clean and commands us to be clean in physical and spiritual forms. Otherwise
mankind will be in darkness and it is a ditch. You know the importance of purification. We go back to the
verses to see what Allah Subhana- Wa-Ta’aala has said about the purification of heart. See Allah Subhana-
Wa-Ta’aala describes the ways he talks to mankind as sometimes he is deliberately making us believe by
swearing. Allah does it before he gives that speech or talks about anything. Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala
wants to talk about it. Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala has sworn one time. And some times it is twice. And
sometimes it is thrise. And sometimes it is for four times. Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala has sworn almost
fifteen times in this verse which is chapter 91 of the sun where Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala say

Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala swears by the sun, he said - I swear by the

sun and each noon time brightness. Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala has sworn by the sun once and twice he

sworn by the brightness of the sun. And he continued. -And he sworn by the moon when it

follows the sun and he also swears by the day when it gives brightness - -and then he says I
swear by the night when it covers the earth with the darkness --and he says I swear by the
heavens and that is the power which establishes them. Here in these verses he says just saying
-and they have it and what is the power that establishes it. Most of the time Allah Subhana-
Wa-Ta’aala swears he swears by the things he created. Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala has sworn by what he
created including himself. Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala did mention himself directly but he mentions himself
indirectly by saying - -that he swears by the heavens and the power that established it. Who
has the power that established the heaven? Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala! Allah Almighty is swearing by

himself in these verses. And then say and he says I swear by the earth and that the power

of it which spread it out and then he He says in them I swear by the soul and him the power
which designed it and he says (and inspired it what is wrong for it and right for it) and

- -(he is indeed successful who causes it to grow). Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala describes

about the noble causes for the mankind with no sickness in his heart. Because the centre of correction or

corruption is the heart. He said that- -that indeed those who purify their souls would get the
happiness ultimately. Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala he presented all these kinds of swearing in order to talk
about the importance of soul. He says that indeed a man that purifies the soul will set up for the
everlasting happiness. That is the importance of purification in Islam. So, Islam always emphasizes about

the purification of our heart. Because this heart like Imam Jaffer Sadique said that
the heart is the

house of Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala anybody to establish in that house of Allah

Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala . If you want to put someone in that house which is the heart and the house of Allah
put Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala just a niche that no one else lives in that house but Allah. So, Allah

Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala when he talks in these verses that in the heart of those people there is a
sickness. What is the sickness of Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala has spoken about? The reason why Allah
Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala said sickness because Allah understands the nature of the Homo sapiens because he

has created us. A man is right person who is well in his internal and outside. Always has to be equal in
equilibrium of the pure heart matters - the fountainhead of the sacred emotions. What they say and what
they ask has to be the same. That's what he is supposed to be. Verbal account and the practical account
should be the same outcome of each phenomenon.
Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala created human being. Human being is supposed to be. So when these
hypocrite act upon what they do not wish in their heart then their internal is different from what they say.

There is sickness in their hearts. So, that's why Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala said Allah
Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala called that sickness. It does it much that what it is supposed to be because there is
disagreement between their actions and what they are hiding in their hearts. That's why Allah Subhana-Wa-

Ta’aala has said sickness in their hearts. Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala said -

Because one of the custom of Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala on this planet

Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala when he created this world, he created the two ways for a man, that which one
which ever a man chooses the right path or the bad path. If you choose the right path Allah Subhana-Wa-
Ta’aala is to guide you and help you. If you choose the bad way there is Satan and his group is also over
there to help you to send you to hell. That is disgusting to Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala. That's why Allah

Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala said in one the verses saying - -for those who are in our
ways those watch the right path, indeed we will guide them towards the right path. And those who chose the
Satan's way, Satan is there with his party. They are always in their way with a desire to get you in their
group, which will lead you to the infernal fire of Hell. And that's why Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala said

that indeed Satan is your foe do take him as enemy as well. He says

Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala said 'indeed he tends us he preaches and calls -

so that the party of the hell, they want to get their group in order to go to hell. That's why the Satan does.
So, Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala when created this world, he knew all these things that each one that a man
follows will take him to the right path or the bad path. That is your own choice, which one you want to go.
You want to go with the Satan or you want to go with Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala. And each one you
choose there are people there who will help you to go to that way or to the Satan or to the way of Allah
Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala. That's why the Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala said these people are hypocrite since

they choose to have sickness in their hearts. So, Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala said And here

Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala ascribes that sickness and it is the sickness to himself. He says
that Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala also increased the sickness to them. Why? Because they are those who
started it. That each way you choose there is someone to help and that is the custom of Allah Subhana-Wa-

Ta’aala . That's why Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala ascribes the sickness to himself saying
that Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala increased those sickness to them. And then at the end he says

to one of them, one of the thing that hypocrites always uses. Allah says he
has prepared the punishment for those people. And what type of the punishment Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala
is talking about? When he talks about the punishment, sometimes he mentions that the punishment is in this
world or in hereafter. Scholars said that type of punishment may be here or may be hereafter. And
sometimes it might be both.
And most of the people what we do under the sun when we say about the punishment of Allah, some people
think that Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala will send may be from the heaven to come and bring that person on
this earth. No! Yes sometimes Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala does that punishment, but not always.

Sometimes the punishment of Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala comes to earth in a way that we don't
expect. And that punishment comes in any way and in any type of way. Some of the punishment may send
the punishment to you to your wife. That you man and woman who will be punishing you all in your life.
There is no way that you can get out of it and there is nothing you can do. You live with her but you are
always in the pain. And there is nothing you can do. There is punishment from Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala.
You always try to be better between in your relationship that you see that if you always will be successful in
that relationship. That is the punishment from Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala. Or sometimes Allah Subhana-
Wa-Ta’aala will send the punishment to your own children. Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala will give you a
child which you can never get him right what you want. You will do everything what you can in order to get
the child on the right path. You will always think about that child. That is another kind of punishment on
you. And sometimes in your own family Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala will test you with one of your sisters
or your brothers for the punishment from Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala. Sometimes not from in your family
but from in your neighborhood. Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala will test you, and will send punishment on you
through a person that will punish you that you will have tough and hard time in your life. Sometimes it
might be at your work place. So when we think of the punishment, Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala is not the
sender of the punishment from the heaven onto your staff. No Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala has thousand and
millions of ways that he can punish you, whether we know or we don't. And sometimes is the small way the
Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala uses in order to make our life miserable. And sometimes the punishment Allah
Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala he mixes someone to come and give a problem in your life. Sometimes Allah
Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala snatches the blessings our of your life. To see that you do everything you can't in
order to achieve something but you see that you can not achieve. Because there is no blessing in your life.
Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala takes the blessings out of your life. And that could be the form of another
punishment in your life from Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala.
That you work hard in order to get the success in your life for any form that you want. But your efforts go in
vain without having any success and you get nothing and this is also the form of punishment sent to you
from Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala. And you see some people they will come behind you and go and get the
achievement and get the success in their life before you. And you are unable to get the same thing. Why?
Because this is the punishment on you from Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala.

Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala may send his punishments by giving you a type of sickness that you will having
in your heart. This is also the punishment for you from Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala. So, there are lot of
ways that Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala can send his punishments to his servant on this earth. And that's why

Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala said those people they will have punishment and that may come
in this world or hereinafter.
So the punishment can be in this world and it can be the hereafter. Here there is a clear concept in among
our scholars that this is the paradise and this is the hell. We may get these two places by the efforts and
actions of us. It solely depends on us, as it has been very clearly described in the holy Quran at different
sacred places in holy verses. Good actions/deeds according to the parameters, which also have been adapted
by the Imams and prophets, of the Quran will give us heaven not only here in this moral world and in the
world after the death of us - hereafter life. And the nefarious and black actions/deeds of us will bring very
much near to the infernal hellish life directly into the hell. In this world and also in hereafter life. This
beyond any doubt.
Some verses clearly indicate the difference between the hell and paradise - and these are already built in
order to requite for the deeds of human being. Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala said

-that the reason ( Picthal)

What is that reason (picthal) When they tell them that Allah exists and there is a punishment
that take it all these things to be a great lie. And this is the reason Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala punish them.

And see what Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala says (Picthal). So here Allah

Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala puts in the form of punishment that their actions tantamount to hypocrite continuously
and that is the sign. Once the messenger of Allah asked that can a believer commit adultery and he said
'yes'. And he asked and asked again can a believer commit adultery? And he said 'yes'. A believer can
commit it. And there are a lot of questions and at the end of the questions he asked him can he believe a lie.
And he said 'no'. One of the signs of believers is to be true all the time.
The visibile and comprehensible signs of the hypocrites that all the time when they speak they lie to others.
And they do it persistently without feeling any compunction or remorse. That's why Allah Subhana-Wa-
Ta’aala said. In Arabic when he says which is the present tense which means 'continuously'.
Because we have some signs. In Arabic when he acts the word ---in the form of the present tense which is if
he says means they will lie in the future. Or when he said -by adding the word
Saoufaa to the present tense it tells that something will be done in the future. But if you do all these two sins
and you add the word Laam just Laam for example Layakzib It means to tell a lie right now. It is
present tense but it means right now. But if you do which has no Laam and no seen or no Saoufa and the
present tense which is FiloMubara in Arabic then it means that it is now and continuously and to the future
until no one knows but only Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala knows. So, Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala says

..that these people continuously lie and they tell a lie now they will continue in future
persistently. And these are the signs of the hypocrites.

That all the time they lie and lie and after it they again lie. May Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala help us to stay
away from this. May Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala show us the right way. Inshallah! And there are more
signs of hypocrites that Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala told us and these will be discussed in next lessons
