ThesecondtestofMBAentrancetestseasonhavebeenconductedalloverIndia.ThisyeartheIIFTentrancetesthas beenconductedbeforeCAT.ItwasanextrawarmupexerciseaswellforCATaspirants.Themainpointsofthisyears testsareasfollows: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Fromlastthree yearsitischangingpattern.Thisyearalsochangeswerethere. Firstofallthetotalnumberofquestionswerereducedto122comparedto150lastyear. TheReadingComprehension(RC)andEnglishUsage(EU)sectionsweremerged.Althoughthereweredividedby subsections. SimilarlytheLogicalReasoning(LR)andDataInterpretation(DI)sectionwasmerged.Andsothetotalnumberof sectionsreducedto4comparedto6lastyear. Themarking schemehaschangedthis yearalso. Itwasclearlygivenoncoverpagethattherewillbesectionalcutoff. The difficulty level of DI andLR sectionwas far more easier than last year.Restof the sections were of same difficultylevelaslastyear.

Overallthesectioncanberatedastoughandanattemptof13/14questionwithanaccuracyof85to90%inatimespanof25minutes willbeconsideredgood.

Thereweretotal23questionsweredistributedin5DIsets.Onanaverage5questionswereoneachDIsets.OneDIsetwasbasedon BarGraph,restofthesetswereonTables.ThedifficultylevelofDIquestionswerelessthanlastyear. Thereweretotal11questionsonLRinthesection.ThequestionswereonDirectionSense,BloodRelations,DataArrangement, QuantitativeReasoningandInputOutput.Anattemptof15to17questionwith85to90%accuracy,inatimespanof35minutes willbegood.

Reading comprehension + English Usage Total number of questions : 40

Thesectionwasdistributedintotwosubsections.InRCsectiontherewerefourRCpassagescontaining15questionsinall.Thelength ofthetwooftheRCpassagewasapproximately600to700wordswhiletheothertwoRCpassagewereofapproximately1200words long.ThepassageswasonIndependentDirectors,TradeCycles,GlobalWarmingandSugar.OnecanreadtwosmallRCscontaining3 questionseachinatimespanof20minutes. InEUsectiontherewerequestionsonSynonyms,Antonyms,Fillintheblanks,SentenceCorrectionandParagraphFormation. Comparedtotheothersectionsthesectionwaseasy.Anattemptof10to12questionswithanaccuracyof80to85%inatimelimitof 20minuteswillbegood.
