YoumustcontactthenearestInstitutionalandIndustrialEducationofficetomakerequestto writetheIPRedSealexam(SeeAppendixAforalistofregionaloffices).Uponapproval,the ProgramDevelopmentOfficerwillnotifyyouofyoureligibilitytowritetheexam,andprovide youwithschedulinginformation.

DuringtheExam
Youmustbring: personalidentificationsuchasaphotoorsignatureIDorvalidNewfoundland andLabradordriverslicense yournotificationletter Thefollowingwillbeprovided: LoadChart Acalculator(seeAppendixBforcalculatorinformation) Allotheritemsrequiredsuchaspencils,scrappaper,etc. ImportantNote: Personalcellphones,calculators,orotherelectronicequipmentareNOTallowedintothe examroom.Ifyoudobringthem,theywillbestoredawayandreturnedtoyouwhenyou havecompletedtheexam.

AftertheExam
Resultswillbemailedtoyouapproximatelyseventotendaysaftercompletionoftheexam.All necessaryinstructionsandinformationwillbeprovidedintheresultsletter. Thepercentagemarkyouobtainedwillbeprovided.Youwillalsobegivenasectionbysection breakdown,showinghowmanyquestionswereineachsection,aswellasthenumberof questionsineachsectionyoucompletedsuccessfully. Ifyouaresuccessfulinobtaininga70%ormoreonyourexam,youwillbeissueda NewfoundlandandLabradorCertificateofQualificationwithaRedSealendorsement.

ExamFormat
AllIPRedSealexamsarewritteninmultiplechoiceformat.Eachexamhasbetween100and 150questions.Amultiplechoicequestionconsistsofastem(acompletequestion)followedby fouroptions(A,B,C,D).Thestemcontainsalltheinformationnecessarytoanswerthe question.Theoptionsconsistoftheonecorrectanswerandthreedistracters.Distracters areincorrect.(SeeAppendixCforasampleanswersheet).
