An Academia and Industry Partnership: Open Cloud Consortium

Abstract: - The world of information technology is at a transitional moment. Internet-based data storage and services also known as cloud computing are rapidly emerging to complement the traditional model of running software and storing data on personal computers (PCs) and servers. The cloud is the term for networked computers that distribute processing power, applications, and large systems among many machines. Applications like Flicker, Google, YouTube, and many others use the cloud as their platform, in the way that programs on a desktop computer use that single computer as a platform. Cloud-based applications do not run on a single computer. The Open Cloud Consortium (OCC) is a group formed by universities and IT companies looking to investigate new ways of improving computing and storage costs across various cloud platforms and integrate communication this paper primarily aims to highlight an Academia and Industry Partnership in current cloud computing environments. We will also going to focus on Development of standards for cloud computing and framework for interoperating between clouds as well as develop benchmark for cloud computing.
