A Peek at Our Week

Reading:
We will focus our attention on building good habits as readers. The students will observe High Pointe students, teachers and staff while on a reading scavenger hunt. We will then discuss what they observed readers doing. Please have your child bring their favorite book from home to share with the class. By doing this, we will learn what different interests we have in books as we share our books with one another! Please have your child bring rd their favorite book by Tuesday, August 23 . We will hold onto the books for several days and return them safely!

Writing:
My writers will learn how to write about important events, continue to add to our Writers Checklist, and work on handwriting!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all of you that donated classroom supplies, Wal-Mart and IPA gift cards. These items are greatly appreciated and will be put to good use!

Math:
Counting and comparing numbers from 1-20 will be our emphasis in math this week. We will also display our daily schedule, graph the letters in our names and learn how to count on from a number other than 1.

Science/Social Studies:
Building a strong community, learning how to make good choices, and celebrating one another will be our target!

Wow! What a great group of kids you are sharing with me! I enjoyed last week and look forward to another week as we dive into curriculum and continue practicing classroom procedures. Just a reminder to take a look at your childs Behavior Report. Please go over it with your child and add any comments you wish on the back side. Please sign, have your child sign, and return to me by Thursday of each week. Also, you will find attached a Scholastic Book Order! Take a look at the order form with your child and if you wish to place an order, please make a check out to Scholastic. th I will need the orders in by Monday, August 29 !
