Our Bag of Goodies for the Week

Reading:
Over the past several weeks, my friends have been immersed in reading strategies that they have taken and applied to books that I have given them as well as books they have chosen from our classroom library. This week we will review looking at the picture, thinking about what makes sense, and going back and rereading. Our newest strategy will be getting our mouths ready to make the first sound. These strategies will aide your child in figuring out tricky words. My scientists will conclude a study on plants and compile a flip book that outlines the plant parts. Later in the week, we will work together in teams to complete Frayer Graphic Organizers, which will solidify their understanding of plants, i.e. what plants need in order to be a living thing, and what plants produce.

From The Teacher:

October is upon us, and with that being said, so is a new Character Ed word! Self-Control, the power over impulse, will be our focus word for the month. I am excited to observe my students step up to the plate and take control of their actions as well as their words. Each day we will expect to finish strong!
