WEEK OF OCTOBER 16, 2017

This week we will have Report Card Conferences on Wednesday,
October 18 from 1:30-5:00. Please be sure to set up a conference
time with me if you will be unable to make it on that day. My conference time is 9:30
a.m. to 9:55 a.m. everyday except Thursday when it is from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.

MATH ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS

This week, students will learn
how to round numbers to the
nearest 10 and 100 and use estimation to help
them add and subtract numbers by estimating
reasonable answers. They will be adding and
subtracting greater numbers. We will continue
to compare numbers in order to attain mastery.
Please continue to practice their basic addition
and subtraction facts with them. They will
need to have a good grasp of these facts in or-
der to do well in adding and subtracting great-
er numbers and for regrouping. Tutoring for
math is from 3:30-4:30 . Title I tutoring is also
available.
This week in Language, we
will work on pronouns and
their place in sentences. In
spelling, this weeks words
have the sound of long o spelled with ow, oa and the
letter o. In reading, will be interviewing parents for
stories that have been handed down as a homework
assignment. We will begin the next unit: Inspired by
the Sea. We will begin reading Sarah, Plain and
Tall as well as other books r elating to the sea.
Students will continue to present their probe books
this week. Students should choose a book for their
first book report coming up in November. Tutoring
for reading begins on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30. Title
I tutoring is also available.

HANDWRITING
Students will practice cursive Ss. They will also work on copying notes and po-
ems from the board.
 SCIENCE-This week the students solar system projects are due on Fri-
day. They will also be identifying the characteristics of comets, meteor-
oids, meteors and meteorites.
RELIGION-This week students will learn about the history of the rosary
in preparation for making a rosary of their own. This weeks Word of
the Week is inscription-writing carved into something made of stone
or metal. This Weeks Good News comes from Matthew 22:15-21.
SOCIAL STUDIES-Students will continue to be able to use a map scale to
determine distances on a map. They will also review and assess what
they learned in the chapter.

REMINDER
We are still collecting pop tops for Ronald McDonald House. We have filled a large collection box and are
very close to filling another one! Help us out by sending in pop tops (soda tabs)! We could win a class party!
Thank you to all who have sent in tops! We are doing an awesome job!
We are also collecting box tops and Prices bottle caps. Help us out by sending these items in whenever you
buy products with the box top label or Prices products!
Please send in any prayer intentions that you may have so that we can pray for them during our morning an-
nouncements and during our Friday rosary. Dont forget to send your children with their rosary on Fridays!
