Nu Flow Makes a Splash in Toronto Memorial Park

Nu Flow successfully completed a pipe-retrofitting project at Fairbank Memorial Park in Toronto, Ontario, Canada where they brought an outdoor community swimming pool back to life. The system was rehabilitated in place with the patented Nu Flow process, eliminating corrosion and leaks, without destroying the pool or digging access points or trenches. Project: Rehabilitate a failing pool pump line encased in concrete using Nu Flows trenchless, cured-in-place structural liner. Customer: City of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation North District Aquatics Department. Site: Fairbank Outdoor Pool, part of Fairbank Memorial Park in Toronto, Ontario. System: Forty-two feet of 8 pool pump line comprised of cast iron and PVC pipe. The pipe runs from the pool drain to the pool pump house. Situation: Corrosion of the cast iron and PVC piping system resulted in cracks, leaks, loss of water and low water pressure. Since the pipe was 20 feet deep and encased in concrete, traditional pipe replacement would have meant tearing up concrete and interlocking pavers in order to access the pipe. Solution: Nu Flow retrofitted the pump line with a structural drain liner. First, the pool was drained and the line was cleaned of all corrosion and buildup. Once complete, Nu Flow Technicians inserted a Pull-in-Place structural liner in the existing pipe using the patented Nu Flow process. Using existing access points in the pool and pump house, Nu Flow lined forty-two feet of pipe including a T connection fifteen feet in. The repairs were completed without destroying the pool walls and surrounding area.
