Re: City of Jersey City Budget Adoption
Dear Director Neff:

I am in receipt of your July 18, 2011 letter directing Jersey City to adopt it's budget by the end of August. Several factors have delayed our ability to adopt the budget, including but not limited to the delayed implementation of a city-wide layoff plan. Now that the execution of the layoff plan has been
completed, and with little more than half of the budget year in front of us, we have an excellent forecast of revenue and expenditures.

It is our intention to introduce a budget amendment at the August 31 st City Council meeting and schedule final budget adoption for September 14th. i have also directed my staff to submit, by middle of next week, all of the outstanding budget information needed by your office to complete the budget review

process.
