TECHNIQUES OF ETHICAL HACKING

SONAM GUPTA(01011104409) NIHARIKA ASTHANA(02411104409) UPASANA CHAUHAN(07011104409) JYOTI BAHL EXTENDED ABSTRACT HACKING AND HACKERS In general, lay man terms , hacking means trying to get into something (breach) illegaly.It involves high level of creativity and thinking, way behind normal things. Normally, well skilled computer professionals who uses the technology for their own benefits are known as hackers. This research paper describes what is ethical hacking and various techniques of implementing it. TYPES OF HACKERS On the basis of intensions of the hacker, we can classify them as White hat hackers Black hat hackers Gray hat hackers White hat hackers( ethical hackers) Ethical hackers are the skilled employee try to break into secure computer network and systems to find vulnerabilities in them to benefit the computer system industry. Although hacking is an illegal action but under various circumstances where there is mutual consensus between the white hat hacker and the organisation which owns the system being hacked is legal. Thus an ethical hacker understands and is capable enough of finding out the loopholes in the target system using the same tools and knowledge as malicious hacker. They are also termed as sneakers, red teams or tiger team [5]. Black hat hacker Black hat hacker can be termed as an acronym of white hat hacker. They also try to get into the secured computer networks exposing the vulnerabilities but to damage the computer system. Gray hat hackers Gray hat hackers are the hybrid comination of white and black hat hackers. They have unspecified and change in motives mostly on the basis of aroused circumstances.
