Volunteering with VSA


VSA is a non-profit organization that connects people with disabilities to the arts. In order to make our programs possible, we rely on wonderful people like YOU who volunteer your time and abilities to encourage the growth of artists with special needs. Below you will find our volunteer opportunities for Fall, 2011. Thanks for giving VSA a hand!

Volunteer Opportunities Fall 2011


On-Going Opportunities
Adult Art Classes: VSA offers a number of opportunities just for adults! Check out the diverse options offered and volunteer with one that fits your interest! Visual Art Classes: Each Monday from 6:307:30pm at VSA students have 4-10 week sessions in various visual art forms. Classes include photography, Art around the World, and more. Classes begin Sept. 12 and run throughout the year. Other Art Classes: Each Tuesday from 5:006:00pm at VSA, students have 4-10 week session in various non-visual art forms. Classes include drumming, gardening, and much more! Classes begin Sept. 13 and run throughout the year. Very Special Choir: Meets each Thursday from 12:30-1:30pm at Kuyper College (3333 East Beltline, GR) throughout the year. Begins Thursday, Sept 22. Arts and Mentoring: VSA holds specialized art classes for GRPS transition students (18-26 yrs) from photography to paper-making and from printmaking to pottery. Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:3011:30am and Thursdays from 2:00-3:30 at VSA offices. Classes begin the week of Sept. 26.

One-Time Opportunities
ArtPrize: Volunteer at VSAs ArtPrize venue, Spectrum Hospital and hand out voting sheets, answer simple questions, and oversee the art. Wednesday, Sept. 21-Thursday, Sept 29. Interested in taking a shift? Contact Katie for more details. Auction 2011! November 11, come and help at VSAs 22nd Annual Very Special Art Auction. The event will begin at 6:30pm and we will need volunteers at different times throughout the day as well as during the event. VSA Movie Night! On Friday, December 9, VSA will be hosting a movie night for young. Come help out while enjoying a holiday movie! Early Childhood Nights: Volunteer during these family fun and art night through crafting clay pieces, dancing with preschoolers, and assisting in creating rhythmic drum sounds.
