To compare two people or things we add the suffix er to the end of the short adjectives (1 or 2 syllables) and then we use the word than. Fast- faster Strong- stronger

If the adjective ends in a vowel + a consonant we double the last consonant and add -er . Fat- fatter/ Thin- thinner. If the adjective ends in y , the y goes and we add the suffix ier. Pretty- prettier Happy happier
