Endangered Ecosystem

Human activities that threaten an ecosystem as deforestion, burning of fossil fuels, overuse of fertilisers in intensive farming. Deforestion leads to : soil erosion, landslides, flash floods, climatic changes, the loss of biodiversity, the greenhouse effect and global warming. Burning of fossil fuels leads to : the greenhouse effect, global warming and air pollution. Overuse of fertilisers in intensive farming leads to : eutrophication and water pollution. Dumping of domestic and industrial waste leads to : water pollution.

The impact of human activities on the ecosystem Many problems related to the environment are the result of human activities to ecosystem such as deforestion, burning of fossil fuels, industrial activities.

I.

Deforestion and its effect

Deforestion is the permanent removal of trees from the forest for infrastructural development, logging industrial, urbanization and plantation Forest is important to regulate world climate and to maintain the ecosystem. Without proper development and planning, a land stripped of its vegetation is subject to soil erosion.Soil erosion is the removal and thinning of the soil layer due to physical and climatic processes, such as high rainfalls. There are many impacts on the environment as soil erosion, flash flood, global warming,

II.

Burning of fossil fuels

The burning of fossil fuels such as petroleum and coals resulting the air polluted by the gases such as carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide. The dumping of solid wastes in dumpsites, stinking the areas and also pollute the nearby water sources. The discharge of effluents deteriorate the water quality.

III.

Overuse of fertilisers in intensive

The use of excessive inorganic fertilizer pesticides and herbicides that would pollute the water sources and effect the fresh water ecosystems. Intensive farming of crops and livestock which cause changes to the soil structure and the soil nutrient will lost. This also will cause the flash flood.

IV.

Dumping of domestic and industrial waste

An increase in human population generates an increase in both domestic and industrial waste. The dumping of waste in landfills poses a great danger to living organisms as toxic substances and other pollutants from the dumpsites leak into the ground and eventually pollute the nearby water sources.
