The Board of Channel 4 will be convening in Birmingham on Monday 27th October and I
welcome the opportunity to invite you to a reception at Hotel du Vin from 7.00pm.

In recent weeks Channel 4 has had to announce a major round of budget cuts to meet the
challenges we are facing both from the structural changes taking place in the industry and
the current extraordinary circumstances affecting the global financing markets.

Notwithstanding these pressures, we are determined to do everything we can to protect

Channel 4’s core PSB remit and push forward our plans for the future of Channel 4 outlined
in Next on 4.

One of the most exciting steps forward is the launch of our multi-million pound digital media
initiative 4iP: Innovation for the Public, which has recently opened for business in the West
Midlands in partnership with Screen West Midlands and Advantage West Midlands.
