CASE SCENARIO:

Mr. Roger, a 68 years old, male, Filipino citizen, went to Fatima Medical Center OutPatient Department with a chief complaint of joint pain and stiffness in his left and right knee. The patient wasnt able to recall exactly when the symptoms began, but he describe it as aching asymmetric pain that increase when using his joints and worsen when using the stars, standing, and walking. He stated the pain is relieved by rest. He stated that he feel/experience less pain at night and when sitting. He confirmed that the pain increased with cool, damp, and raining weather.

ASSESSMENT FINDINGS: Joint pain relieved by rest Crepitation Joint stiffenss Increased pain in damp, cold weather Limited ROM

DIAGNOSTIC TEST X-ray show joint deformity, narrowing of the joint space, and bone spurs Arthoscopy reveals bone spurs and narrowing of joint space Hematology shows increased ESR(Erythrocyte Aesimenrtation Rate)

MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS Osteoarthritis

TREATMENT Cane or walker Cold therapy Low caloric diet Heat therapy Isometric exercises Analgesic NSAIDs
