ABSTRACT
This project develops a speed limiter use to limit the maximum driving speed of a motor vehicle to a
preset value. The maximum speed limiter for use in automobile has a throttle pedal connected to a carburetor throttle valve through a linkage mechanism. This linkage mechanism includes a three links system and connecting means. The first and the second links are pivotally connected through a

pivotal connection at one end of each of the links. The other end of the first link is coupled to the
accelerator pedal, and the other end of the second link is pivotally anchored to the vehicle. Moreso, the third link is coupled to the throttle valve in a position intermediate the ends of the first link. When the speed of the motor vehicle is below the preset speed limit, an electromagnet holds the pivotal

connection between the two links in a given position. However, when this preset maximum limit is
reached, the electromagnet is de-energized by a PNP transistor and the pivotal connection moves into a second position which acts on the linkage connected to the carburetor throttle valve to move this throttle valve towards a closed position, hence, limiting the maximum speed of the automobile

vehicle. A beeping lamp system is also incorporated, using a NPN transistor, to give a warning signal
when the vehicle speed approaches the maximum preset limit.
