Public Information Film

BTEC NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN MEDIA PRODUCTION (MOVING IMAGE) Date Set: 21.1 Deadline: 4.2 Unit:26 Factual Programme Making Referral: 11.2
Brief: Create a 45 second Public Information Film on an issue that affects young people.

The film needs to be short and punchy in order to engage and inform the audience and create a sense of alarm via a good narrative. Please note that to achieve a distinction all tasks must meet the relevant distinction criteria and all the tasks must be completed by the referral deadline.
Tasks: In order to successfully complete this assignment, you must undertake the following tasks:

Task 1 Write a 500 word critical analysis of the public information film genre using examples from the films to illustrate your points. P2/M2/D2 Task 2 Submit a folder containing the following documentation: Pre-production
research worksheet background notes on the issue covered by the PIF combined proposal and treatment shot list/script recce checklist shooting schedule clearance forms (including music copy right forms) as appropriate risk assessment

Production and post production logging sheets for production and post production edit decision list P3/M3/D3

Task 3 Film and submit and rough and fine edit for 45 second PIF on an issue which affects young people P4/M4/D4 Task 4 Write a 600 word evaluation on how successful your film was in conveying the message to you target audience through your use of its content, camerawork, editing, sound, music and dialogue/voice over. You should use at least four of these headings in your analysis. P1/M1/D1
