R&D

{ STATISTICS OF PLYMOUTH}

Plymouths were actually priced slightly higher than their competition Chevrolet and Ford, but offered standard features such as internal expanding hydraulic brakes that the competition did not provide.

Plymouth prospered in the '30s on a formidable combination of low price, attractive styling, and engineering often more advanced than that of Ford or Chevrolet. Though Plymouth never outproduced those rivals, it was firmly established as America's number-three seller as early as 1932, a spot it would hold well into the '50s.

Researches and Innovations

It had some distinct features at the time when emphasis on quality and research rather than on looks were given.
Many key features figured in this meteoric rise: all-steel construction in an age of wood-framed bodies; four-wheel hydraulic brakes some years before Ford and Chevy had them;

In 1931 with the Model PA, the company introduced floating power ."

In 1934, Plymouth models like this coupe saw smoother styling and with some mechanical upgrades. It also had two-door convertible coupes[2] with rumble seats.

Through 1956, Plymouth vehicles were known for their durability, affordability, and engineering.

Disasters In R&D
In 1933 plymouth decided to catch up with Ford and Chevrolet with respect to engine cylinder count. However, plymouth had reduced the PC's wheelbase from 112 in (284.5 cm) to 107 in (271.8 cm), and the car sold poorly.

In 19571980 Forward Look models suffered from poor materials and assembly ,build quality and looks; they quickly deteriorated and greatly damaged Plymouth (Chrysler's) reputation

Consequences
Plymouth had lost much of its identity, as its models continued to overlap in features and prices with other Chryslers 1997: Sales drop dramatically with the introduction of a line of unpopularly-styled, downsized full-size models. It quickly deteriorated and greatly damaged Plymouth (Chrysler's) reputation in whole.
