Ocm tries to find out an exact balance between their anticipated demand for HR and the internal supply of personnel. It uses skills inventories - It is a device for pinpointing information about individuals and their suitability for different jobs.

The purpose to provide the organization with quick, accurate information on all employees in order that management can choose the best-qualified person for transfer or promotion. It consist of the following information like age, address, health, education ,willingness to travel , experience in past and present jobs and foreign languages. OCM used Delphi technique project and statistical technique such as regression or correlation analysis for there project named as occupational supply and demand trends.

Trade union
Both trade union and industrial association publish reports concerning supply and demand forecast for labour force. A wide variety of occupational data are available from Indian department of labour and other government sources. Eg. The monthly labour review, published by the Bureau of labour statistics by govt of India.
