PLAZUELA DE SANTA ISABEL This was made part

of the Colegio de Santa Isabel for lack of an open space,
a standard feature in Spanish buildings. Beside the plaza
along Anda St. , was a place called SAMPALUCAN, a
vacant lot occupied by indigents of the city. Sometime in
the 18th century, it was incorporated to enlarge the
plazuela.
The area was cleaned and restored in 1983. In 1995, the
the Battle of Manila, erected a monument in memory of
the war dead.
