STRENGTHEN TIES TO PROVIDE

ENHANCED SERVICES TO STUDENTS

University of New England (UNE) Study Centres located on TAFE NSW New England Institutes campuses are now available to students from both institutions 24/7. The Study Centres, located at New England Institutes Campuses at Quirindi, Coonabarabran, Gunnedah, Narrabri, Moree, Inverell, Tenterfield and Glen Innes provide 24 hour self access to state of the art facilities and technology. This initiative continues to provide increased opportunities for students from both institutions to enhance their education and training experience. For students who experience low bandwidth from their home or work, the Study Centres provide access to reliable internet services and improved connectivity with their lecturer, teacher and support services. The Study Centres include up to date computers with high speed internet connection and videoconferencing facilities. These enable the student to connect, through a stable platform, with staff from their institution and into classes, workshops and tutorials. The Study Centres also provide a quiet and safe place for students to study. Paul Callaghan New England Institute Director said, Staying connected while studying will enhance student completion rates as well as providing students with a state of the art technology experience. The Institute is committed to working with UNE to make a difference for students across the New England and North West. Professor Jim Barber UNE Vice Chancellor said, The UNE Study Centres offer geographically isolated students greater access to technology and therefore increased opportunities. UNE is proud to be able to strengthen its relationship with the Institute and these local communities by extending the opening hours of the Study Centres to New England Institute students as well. Students have commented that they really like the fact that they can come to a Study Centre at a time that suits their work and family commitments. Because some live out of town and have internet connectivity issues, the Centre allows them to stay connected and to upload and download documents with confidence. - ENDS Media Contacts Paul Callaghan Woodberry TAFE NSW - New England Institute New England
