CHAIRMANS REPORT
Our full council meeting was held at the Victoria Recreation Ground Clubhouse. Three members of the public attended. We welcomed our new Youth member Samuel Hughes who is currently the North Wight representative on the IW Youth Council and hope he finds our meetings interesting. It was proposed by Cllr Julie Jones-Evans and Cllr Geoff Lumley to contribute towards the upkeep of the CCTV network within our town, as concerns were raised about the service provided by the IW Council that had suffered due to cuts in their budgets. We all thought it was very important for the security within our town that 24/7 coverage is maintained, therefore we have decided to give this year 5,000 and look at supporting them next year with a further 10,000. We had a report from SNT officer PC Quelch who said the crime rates for September in Newport areas were down. However, incidents of anti social behaviour were reported to him in Carisbrooke and the Town, which he will look into.

It was agreed to donate to Gunville Community Association 175 to help older and young people with various events. Project updates: Following a question raised last month by Mr Dodd I put forward a request to move the marble Fountain and Dunkirk Plaque on Newport Quay. I am pleased to tell you it was agreed to refurbish and re-site the Fountain on the right hand side of the footbridge. We will also clean the Dunkirk Plaque and re-mount on a new enamel tray, leaving it in its same position on the Harbour Masters building. This is a total cost of 652. OUR NEXT MEETINGS

The next Full Council meeting will be on 14th November at Gunville Methodist Church, starting at 6.45pm. The Planning and Licensing Committee meet every fortnight at the Riverside Centre starting at 6.30pm. The meetings in November will be on 10th and 24th.
