WORK on The Leas Cliff lift-carriage, which has been at the centre of a long-running restoration appeal, is well under way. The 19th-century cabin has been dismantled in readiness for being treated and reassembled before being moved back to Folkestone. It is hoped to preserve as much of the original fabric as possible, with the chassis needing extensive repairs due to long exposure to the sea air. A SELECTION of the best music album artwork of last year is on display in Folkestone, including the 2009 winning entry by Muse. All 50 nominations for the Best Art Vinyl 09 award are on show, including contributions from Hard-Fi, The Cribs, Thom Yorke and Fleet Foxes. Muse won for their artwork for The Resistance, their fifth LP, released in September. Entries are voted on by the public.The exhibition is at the Georges House Gallery, 8 The Old High Street, until Sunday, January 17.
