Lincolns Spirit Week A Success

By Sandy Wang During the week of August 29 through September 1, 2011, many students at Lincoln high school came to school in ridiculous, creative, and mind-blowing outfits corresponding to each spirit day. Leadership held a spirit week to welcome the incoming freshmen as well as to have students show their school spirit. During lunch, there were specific activities corresponding to each spirit day. This was where the students could show off their awesome outfits, have fun participating in activities with other students, and also win yummy prizes! Monday, August 29, 2011 was Nerd Day, where students dressed up as nerds. The lunch activity was a spelling bee! To spice it up, the prizes were not only just candy, but school supplies too! Tuesday, August 30, 2011 was Formal Day, where students dressed in something theyd wear to an interview or a nice dinner. Sadly there wasnt any activity for Tuesday due to the lunch schedule. Wednesday, August 31, 2011 was Superheroes v. Villains day, where students dressed up as a superhero or a villain. The activity during lunch for this theme was a tug-a-war! Superheroes versus the villains! On the last day of our spirit week Thursday, September 1, 2011, we had Hawaiian Day, where students dressed

according to anything Hawaiian. The activity during lunch for this theme was limbo followed up by different, fun dances! I asked Annie Lu, the senior class president to give some of her input on spirit week and this is what she said, In my experience, from dressing up for every spirit week since freshman year, Ive never seen so many students dressed up! Many students joined the different lunch time activities that the leadership had organized everyday. Whether they were a spectator or participated, everyone definitely had a blast. Our school pride is definitely growing and it was sad to see that the fun packed week is gone. It was definitely a successful event and we wish to have many more to come! Dont forget to dress up for homecomings spirit week! Spirit week was such a success and you could feel the school spirit rise! Next time hopefully itll be bigger and better. Maybe more fun activities, more students dressing up, and teachers can dress up too!
