READING THE INFORMATION a) The core to the left clearly shows the various treatments the road pavement has received over the years culminating in a surface course (wearing course) of hot rolled asphalt and precoated chippings. b) It also shows that the more recent overlays are in good condition and that the road pavement is in a strong condition. c) The strength of the road pavement being judged, of course, in relation to the amount and weight of traffic passing over it. d) The above image clearly shows that a road pavement engineer is never short of records / information on a road pavement providing he is able to read the "information", in this case the evidence that is presented in the core itself. e) This process can be taken a step further with appropriate trial holes and the taking of samples of the various layers for further testing, e.g. laboratory analysis of the distinct materials in the construction including binder reclamation and testing.

i) Teras ke kiri jelas menunjukkan pelbagai rawatan yang turapan jalan raya telah diterima sejak beberapa tahun yang lalu memuncak dalam perjalanan permukaan (memakai) asfalt tergelek panas dan chippings precoated. ii) Ia juga menunjukkan bahawa lapisan yang lebih terkini adalah dalam keadaan baik dan bahawa turapan jalan raya dalam keadaan yang kukuh. iii) Kekuatan turapan jalan dihakimi, kursus, berhubung dengan jumlah dan berat trafik memaafkan. Imej di atas jelas menunjukkan bahawa seorang jurutera jalan turapan tidak pernah pendek rekod / maklumat di atas turapan jalan yang memberikan beliau mampu untuk membaca "maklumat", dalam kes ini bukti yang dibentangkan di dalam teras itu sendiri. iv) Proses ini boleh diambil selangkah ke hadapan dengan lubang percubaan yang sesuai dan pengambilan sampel daripada pelbagai lapisan untuk ujian lanjut, contohnya analisis makmal bahanbahan yang berbeza dalam pembinaan termasuk pengikat penambakan dan ujian.
CORING TO CHECK CRACK PROPAGATION a) Here coring has been performed to determine the depth and severity of cracking in a road pavement, and it has been found that the crack travels down through the lean concrete base (roadbase). b) This type of find in a core would need to be followed up by a trial hole to find out just what had instigated the cracking in the first place.
