    Import of seeds 1) In view of shortage of indigenous planting material and to meet the target proposed by TMOP&M for area expansion in different states in years 10 come exotic sources need to be identified apart from ASD-Costa Rica. The list of seed producers, which may be contacted for import of planting materials for immediate requirements is given in the Box 3.5, Option of selection of different approved sources of exotic suppliers should be made available to the entrepreneurs instead of depending on only one supplier Indigenously produced Oil Palm sprouts are sold at Rs. 10.00 per sprout and a uniform rate is followed in all the seed gardens. The cost of each exotic sprout is however US $.0.50 plus 6.50% customs duty, 1.0% handling charges and 2.0% other incidental charges Finally, after adding the PEQ charges of Rs. 1.60 per sprout, the cost of ASD Costa Rica sprout comes to Rs.28/- at the current exchange rate.
