What are poisons?
The different types of poisons? What are the effects of poisons?

What are poisons?

Poison is any material (liquid, solid, gas) that is toxic. When absorbed by any living organism it can either cause death or injury. Poisons can have an extensive range of effects on a human body, obviously depending on what poison it is.

What are the different Types of poisons

There are many different types of poisons.


Venom (animal bites etc)

Man made poisons (industrial poisons) are things like the

following:

Perfumes Hairsprays Cleaning products

Biology poisons are often distinguished from a toxin

and a venom.
Toxins are poisons produced via some biological

function in nature, and venoms are usually defined as biological toxins that are injected by a bite or sting to cause their effect.
Other poisons are generally defined as substances

which are absorbed through epithelial linings such as the skin or gut.

Man made poisons (industrial)


Man made poisons are mainly either for
cleaning or smelling nice

Chlorine
This chemical is used in mainly cleaning products for

the household. Everyday cleaning products such as Janola Ajax spray and wipe Pool cleaners

Perfumes (acetone)
Perfumes are usually in beauty products
Besides in actual perfume, you can find them in Hairsprays

Make up
Perfumes are also used to make the house smell nice Therefore they are in things like air fresheners

What are the effects poisons?

Depending on the type of poison depends on the effect

of the poison.
Things like spider bites (venom) causes swelling and

bruising.
Or if its taken by mouth like Janola, it could cause

death.

Some effects of poisons are:


- Slight pain and discomfort
- Skin irritation - Cardiac arrest

- And in major cases even death..

The effects of poisons on the environment


One of the main and the most obvious

disadvantage of perfumes, well any spray is the damage done to the ozone layer.

In Conclusion

Poisons are harmful

Precaution should be taken when handling industrial poisons Effects of poisons can be as minor as swelling and bruising yet so harmful that even death can be a factor.
