Statement from the Minnesota Chapter Penn State Alumni Association

Minneapolis, MN - November 11, 2011

The Board of the Minnesota Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association is deeply saddened by the recent allegations against past and present Penn State officials. Our primary concern is with the alleged victims of sexual assault and abuse. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families. We maintain a strong faith and belief in our university and the judicial process.

This is a very painful time for the Penn State family. Now more than ever, the members of the Penn State alumni family need each other. The Minnesota Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association will continue to support the interests and welfare of The Pennsylvania State University, encourage fellowship among the members of the Penn State family (alumni, parents of students, friends and fans), and to cooperate as Penn Staters in supporting and developing the civic activities of our Minnesota community.

We are proud to have provided over $15,000 to students from Minnesota in support of their higher education in just the past ten years and to have supported local charities such as Habitat for Humanity and Feed My Starving Children. In the wake of the recent events, we will also be making a contribution to a yet to be determined local charity whose mission is to stop child abuse.

If youd like to speak to someone to obtain more information, we suggest you contact the Penn State Public Information Office at 814-467-2232. Sincerely, The Board of Directors for the Minnesota Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association
