Subject Description The aim of this subject is to integrate knowledge with financial, business and management concepts and apply them to solve problem in the areas of accommodation operations. To analyse the hotel environment in terms of construction, maintenance, hygiene and security and apply these concepts to the design of an accommodation operations. At the end of the subject, students will be able to identify the principle problems and challenges of lodging management in a hotel, and be able to anticipate future trends and prospects in this area.
Subject Outcomes Students will be able to define the role and responsibility of the Front Office Manager and Executive Housekeeper in the Rooms Division. Students will be able to integrate knowledge with financial, business and management concepts and apply them to problem solving in the areas of accommodation operations. Students will be able to apply rooms management concepts in a group project that requires team working and planning skills, and focuses on a rooms division supervision case study. Students will demonstrate communication and some IT skills in carrying out the group project.
