ELEMENTS OF SCREW THREADS

1. Major dia.:The largest dia. of a screw thread. 2. Minor Dia.:The smallest dia. Of a screw thread. 3. Pitch Dia.:It is an imaginary dia. In between the major and minor dia. 4. Axis of Screw:It is the longitudinal central line through the screw.

5. Angle of Thread:It is the angle included between the side of the thread. 6. Helix Angle:It is the angle made by the helix. 7. Crest:It is the top surface joining the two side of a thread. 8. Flank (Side):It is the slant surface of the thread which connects the crest with the root.

9. Root:It is the bottom surface joining the two sides of a thread. 10. Depth of Thread:The distance between the crest and the root of a thread measured normal to the axis. 11. Thickness of the Thread:The distance between the adjacent side of the thread measured along or parallel to the pitch line.
