BOOK: English for Starters 7 UNIT: 4 LESSON: 15 58-59 ACYIVITY: Your Money 45 minutes OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the lesson, the student will be able to: 1-practise he use of determiners: all, none, both, neither, another, other, the other, the second. 2-ask and answer questions for a questionnaire.

Warm up:

(15 minutes)

Read the title of this unit (Your Money) with the students. Ask them: How careful are you with your money? / Do you spend all your money? In groups, students discuss the questions, and then report to the class. Read the questionnaire and give students time to think about their answers. Students work in pairs asking and answering the questions. Tell students to keep a record of the answers. As a class, find out which students gave mostly a answers and which gave b, c or d answers.

Draw the table on the board, read the sentences from Exercise 4, and then give the students 2 minutes and ask students to tick the boxes in the chart. Sentences of Exercise 4: 1-I save all of the money. 2-I bought all of those things last month. 3-I take none of my money. 4-Last month I bought none of those things. 5- I always buy both of the things. 6- I buy neither of the things.

Give students some sentences using the classroom situation before asking them to complete the rules, e. g. None of us are English. /All of us are students. /Both A and B have got brown hair. Neither of these books are/is mine. All money is in my bag. / None of the paper has been used. Students look at the replies in Exercise 4 and complete the rules.

Write the rules on the board and elicit students to complete. 1-We use both and neither when we talk about two people or things. 2-We use all and none when we talk abut more than two people or things. 3-We use neither and none to make negative sentences.

Ask students to do Exercise 5, during this write on the board:

Check answers, ask students to explain why the other answer is wrong and to suggest what the other person could say. Present two pictures on the screen, one is for a poor man the other is for a rich man and under each one the correct sentences are written. Elicit students to read the sentences. Divide students to small groups, ask them to do Exercise 6 (give them 3 minutes) If the time is up give it as homework. Check answers with the class.

Ask students to give sentences as those in Exercise 5, emphasis the correct sentence.
