Techniques/Stitches: Adjustable Ring technique for starting crochet in the round Chain (ch) Single Crochet (sc) Increase (inc) Increase by working 2 stitches into the same space Decrease (dec) Decrease by working two stitches from the previous row/round together. Comments: This lamb is worked in the round. I do not join my rounds, and simply single crochet around in spirals, marking the beginning of my round with a stitch marker. I typically do not measure gauge when making stuffed animals, as it is more important for the fabric to be reasonably tight and firm, so it does not stretch over much when stuffing. Working with the feather may be challenging, as it is near to impossible to see your stitches be sure to count carefully and mark the beginning of your round. Beginning each piece: With the exception of the ears (which are crocheted flat), all pieces are started using an adjustable ring. This allows you to pull the center of the ring tightly closed. To form an adjustable ring, wrap your yarn around two or three fingers twice, then pull a loop through the center of the ring using your crochet hook. Ch1 into this loop, proceed to sc the appropriate number of times around the loop, join (by single crocheting and starting your next round), and pull the center loop tight by pulling on the free end of yarn.

(7sc) Round 3: inc1, sc7 (8sc) Round 4: inc1, sc8 (9sc) Leave a short tail and pull it through the last loop to fasten off. Tail The tail is worked flat, with Bamboo Feather and your larger crochet hook as follows: Chain 4 loosely Row 1: SC in 2nd chain from hook and in each ch across Rows 2, 3: Ch1, turn, sc in each sc across Leave a tail and pull it through the last loop to fasten off. Assembly Start with the head. Using the contrasting bamboo, or other contrasting yarn and your tapestry, make a Y shape in the center of the face for the nose I recommend orienting the head so that the beginning of the round is at the chin that way if any jog is noticed where you changed from Karaoke to Bamboo feather, it is less obvious (and it also gives you a point of reference when making the Y). Once satisfied with the nose placement, place the eyes accordingly I find using the safety eyes that secure through the fabric with a washer to be best. Attach the ears I fold the ears in half, and secure them along the cast on edge. I typically align the ear about 1 or two rounds after the transition to the feather yarn, and 1 stitch or so above the eye placement. The fold on the ear faces forward, with the open edge to the back. You may adjust the ear placement accordingly to your liking. Once the ears and facial features are completed, stuff the head with Polyfil, and either using a matching yarn to the Bamboo Feather, or using the tail of the feather, thread through the stitches of the last round, draw tight and secure closed. The head should be round and mostly spherical in shape. For the body, attach the tail to the back and the feet to the base evenly, or as you prefer. I placed a bit of stuffing in each foot to add some stiffness, this may not be required depending on how long the tail is remaining from starting the first round you can simply tuck the tail inside the foot as you seam it to the base of the body. Once all feet are secured, pour some pellets in the base of the body if you are using them, and then fill the body with stuffing. Using a complementary colored yarn to the Bamboo Feather, secure the head to the body I recommend either basting the pieces together or holding them together with sewing pins to ensure you seam the head evenly onto the body. Dress your sheep with a collar and bell if desired.
