Amigurumi Pumpkin Pet

NOTE: When you finish crocheting this adorable pet pumpkin, it will be about 5” x 4”.

Materials:

 Size G/7 or 4.25mm Crochet Hook


 Yarn Needle
 Stitch Marker
 Scissors
 Polyester Fiberfill
 Very Fine Black Yarn (for lines around the pumpkin, and its mouth)
 Worsted Weight Yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver Solids)
o Carrot (or bright orange) for head/body and legs
o Spring Green for stem and tail
o Pale Yellow for eyes

Abbreviations:

Blo – Back Loops Only


Ch – Chain
Flo – Front Loops Only
Hdc – Half Double Crochet
Lp(s) – Loop(s)
Sc – Single Crochet
Sc2tog – Single Crochet 2 stitches together (decrease)
Sk – Skip
Sl st – Slip Stitch
St(s) – Stitch(es)

Head/Body

Round 1: With carrot (or bright orange) yarn, make a magic circle. Do 6sc in the magic
circle. Pull on the yarn end to close up the hole. (6)
Round 2: Make 2sc in each st. (12)

Round 3: 2sc, sc in the next st (repeat this pattern around). (18)

Round 4: 2sc, sc in the next 2 sts (repeat this pattern around). (24)

Round 5: 2sc, sc in the next 3 sts (repeat this pattern around). (30)

Round 6: 2sc, sc in the next 4 sts (repeat this pattern around). (36)

Round 7: 2sc, sc in the next 5 sts (repeat this pattern around). (42)

Rounds 8-15: Sc around. (42)

Round 16: Sc2tog, sc in the next 5 sts (repeat this pattern around). (36)

Round 17: Sc2tog, sc in the next 4 sts (repeat this pattern around). (30)

Round 18: Sc2tog, sc in the next 3 sts (repeat this pattern around). (24)

Round 19: Sc2tog, sc in the next 2 sts (repeat this pattern around). (18)

Begin stuffing with fiberfill.

Round 20: Sc2tog, sc in the next st (repeat this pattern around). (12)

Round 21: Sc2tog six times. (6)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing (about 20” long).

Sew the hole closed. Fasten securely.

Slip the needle and yarn from the bottom-center of the pumpkin to the top-center (See
images #1-2 below). Pull gently until there is a dimple on the bottom. Then, slip the
needle and yarn into another hole next to the top-center and bring the needle back down
into a hole next to the bottom-center (See images #3-5 below). Pull gently until there is a
dimple on the top as well. Repeat one more time. Fasten securely when finished.
With very fine black yarn, embroider 6 vertical lines around the pumpkin. (See images
below)
With Pale Yellow yarn, embroider 2 eyes (embroider around four times for each eye).
Then, with very fine black yarn, embroider across (in a zig-zag line) for the mouth. (See
images below)

Legs (make 4)

Round 1: With carrot (or bright orange) yarn, make a magic circle. Do 5sc in the magic
circle. Pull on the yarn end to close up the hole. (5)

Round 2: Make 2sc in each st. (10)

Rounds 3-4: Sc around. (10)

Fasten off. Leave a long tail for sewing.


Stuff legs with fiberfill and then sew onto the bottom of the body. (See images below)

Stem

With Spring Green yarn, ch 2.


Round 1: Do 4sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. (4)

Rounds 2-3: Sc around. (4)

Round 4: (In Flo) Do 2sc two times. (In Blo) Sc2tog. (5)

Round 5: In both lps, sc around. (5)

Round 6: Do 2sc. Sc around. (6)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Sew the bottom of the stem closed. Then, sew the stem onto the top-center of the
pumpkin.

Tail

With Spring Green yarn, ch 5.


Round 1: Do [Sl st. Ch 3. Sl st in the 2nd ch from the hook. Sc in the next ch] in the first
2 sts. Sl st in the next st. Do [Sc. Hdc. Sc.] in the next st.

Flip your work upside down and work in the foundation.

Do [Sl st. Ch 3. Sl st in the 2nd ch from the hook. Sc in the next ch] in the next 2 sts. Sl st
in the last st.

Ch 11. Sl st in the next 10 chains.

Fasten off, leaving a long end tail for sewing. Weave in the beginning tail.

Then, weave the end tail through the 10 chains. Sew the tail onto the lower back of the
pumpkin.
