Golden edge
Start from inside on the left side of the pirate coat (Pic 5.32 - 5.33), use the golden yarn to
crochet sc in each st around the coat and slst in the same st as the beginning sc. Using the
golden yarn to crochet sc around the ends of both sleeves. (Pic 5.34 - 5.35)

Cloth strips
Make 6 strips and use golden yarn to make 7 chains.
Rnd 1: Start 1st sc in the 3rd chain from hook, then sc in next 4 chains (5)
Fasten off and weave in the yarn end.
1. Glue the 1st strip on the right side and the 4th
strip on the left side on rnd 14 of the pirate coat.
2. Glue the 2nd strip on the right side and the 5th
strip on the left side on rnd 17 of the pirate coat.

Use white thread to make 6 chains.
Rnd 1: Start 1st sc in the 2nd chain from hook, then sc in
next 4 chains, turn (5)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, inc, sc 3, inc, turn (7)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, inc, sc 5, inc, turn (9)
Rnd 4: Ch 2, hdc 4, ch 1, skip 1 st, hdc 4, turn (8)
Rnd 5: Ch 2, dc 1, ch 2, skip 2 sts, dc 3, ch 2, skip 2 sts,
dc 1, turn (5)
Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc 1, sc 2 in chains, sc 3, sc 2 in chains, sc 1, turn (9)
Rnd 7: Ch 1, inv dec, sc 5, inv dec, turn (7)
Rnd 8: Ch 1, inv dec, sc 3, inv dec, turn (5)
Rnd 9: Ch 1, inv dec, sc 1, inv dec, turn (3)
Fasten off and weave in the yarn end. Glue it at the center of front side of the pirate hat, use black

8. BONES (White thread, 1.6 mm crochet hook)


Make 4 bones and use white thread to make 6 chains.
Rnd 1: Start 1st sc in the 2nd chain from hook, then sc in
next 4 chains, (ch 4, start 1st hdc in the 3rd chain and
hdc in next chain, slst to the 5th stitch of bone), (ch 4,
start 1st hdc in the 3rd chain and hdc in next chain,
slst to the 5th stitch of bone). Rotate work to work in
the back of the foundation chain, slst in next 4 chains
Fasten off and weave in the yarn end. Glue the bones in diagonal
line next to the skull.

9. HEADBAND (Red, 2.5 mm crochet hook)
First piece Second piece
Use red yarn to make 7 chains. Use red yarn to make 7 chains.

10. SMOKING PIPE (Dark brown, black, 2.5 mm crochet hook)

Stem
Begin with black yarn. Rnd 7: Sc 6, hdc 1 (7)
Rnd 1: Make magic ring 5 sc (5) Rnd 8: Hdc 1, sc 6 (7)
Rnd 2-3(2 rnds): Sc in each st around (5) Fasten off and leave the long tail for sewing.
Rnd 4: Sc 4, inc (6) (Pic 10.1) Bend the ends of the soft wire and

Begin with dark brown yarn.

11. PIRATE EYE PATCH (Black, 2.5 mm crochet hook)

Use black yarn to make 11 chains. Pic 11.1


Rnd 1: Start 1st sc in the 2nd chain from hook,
then sc in next 9 chains, turn (10)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, dec, sc 6, dec, turn (8)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, dec, sc 4, dec, turn (6)

Fasten off and weave in the yarn end.
Using a new black yarn start at point A and point B,

13. HOW TO ASSEMBLE & EMBROIDERY
1. Mouth:
Use pins to mark point A, B, C, D, E, F on the head. (Pic 13.1) Place the upper lip at the specified
position (Pic 13.2) and sew the upper lip along the blue line. Don’t move the pin at point [F].
(Pic 13.3) Stuff the upper lip slightly with fiberfill (Pic 13.4) and sew the upper lip along the blue
line again. (Pic 13.5) Place the lower lip at the specified position (Pic 13.6 - 13.8) and sew to the
upper lip by inserting a needle through the mouth. (Pic 13.9) Then sew along the blue line.
(Pic 13.10) Stuff the lower lip slightly with fiberfill. (Pic 13.11 - 13.12) Glue on the area indicated
and pressed firmly against the upper lip. (Pic 13.13)

2. Eyes:
Use pins to mark point A, B, C, D (Pic 13.14) and thread a needle with yellow color yarn and insert
it from under the chin (Pic 13.15), bring it out at [A] (Pic 13.16), push the needle back in at [B] and
out at [C] (Pic 13.17), push the needle back again in at [D] (Pic 13.18) and bring it out at the
beginning point. (Pic 13.19) Pull tight the yarn to make the indentation for the eye and knot the
yarn. (Pic 13.20) Place 11 mm eye beads on the eye indentation. The space between two eyes is 17
stitches. (Pic 13.21)

3. White eyes: Sew the white of the eyes with white yarn. (Pic 13.22 – 13.23)
