NOTES:
NOTE: Since white thread is hard to photograph, for some of the step by step pictures, I
have used brown thread. Continue using the color the pattern suggests.
Start with Lizbeth 20, color ecru. Join rounds with a slip stitch and chain 1.
Round 1: mr, ch 1, 9 sc in the ring – 9 sts
Round 2: 9 inc – 18 sts
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 9 – 27 sts
Rounds 4 – 9: 27 sc
Round 10: (sc, dec) x 9 – 18 sts
Stuff the head well.
Round 11: 9 dec – 9 sts
Fasten off and secure the stitches (see tutorials on Page 2).
Sew the eyes with black thread on Round 7, 6 stitches apart.
That smaller opening needs to fall between the eyes. Since we will continue with the body
from there, the opening has to be aligned with the face so the body will not look twisted.
Once you have adjusted the helmet to where you would like it to be, continue with Round
12.
Round 12: 31 sl st
PART 2: Body
Start the neck in the 5 chains and 4 skipped stitches from Round 9 of the helmet.
Continue crocheting with white Lizbeth 20 thread. Insert the hook in the 2nd st (from right
to left). You will start in the stitches you skipped and not in the FLO of the chain you made.
Crochet in continuous rounds.
Round 1: 9 sc
Round 2: (sc, 4 inc) x 2 – 16 sts
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 8 – 24 sts
Fold the body. Mark 5 sts on each side for arms. These arm spaces should align with the
face of the astronaut.
Make 1 sc and turn your work. The eyes will be facing you.
Make 1 sc in the next st (see red arrow in the picture below).
Crochet in continuous rounds.
Round 1: 9 sc
Round 2: (sc, 4 inc) x 2 – 16 sts
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 8 – 24 sts
Fold the body. Mark 5 sts on each side for arms. These arm spaces should align with the
face of the astronaut.
This is the last sc of this round. You should have 9 sts total after Round 1.
Round 2: sc, 4 inc, sc, 3 inc – 16 sts
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 8 – 24 sts
Fold the body. Mark 5 sts on each side for arms. These arm spaces should align with the
face of the astronaut.
There should be 7 stitches in the front and 7 stitches in the back of the doll to make the
body.
STEP 2: Make 1 sc and turn your work (the eyes should be facing you).
STEP 3: 1 sc in next 6 sts
STEP 4: When you get to the thread marking the 5 sts for the second arm, insert your
hook in the same st and in the st on the other side (same as above). Make 1 sc.
Continue from where you stopped after Round 9. Each leg is made with 7 sts. Crochet the
legs in continuous rounds.
LEG1
Round 1: sc until you get the the thread marking the middle 6 sts
Insert your hook into the last st you made a sc and then through the st on the other side
(the same as how we created armholes earlier). Make 1 sc.
Turn over your work and make 1 sc in the next st. Sc until the end of Round 1. You should
have 7 sts.
Rounds 2 – 3: 7 sc
Round 4: inc in the 4 middle sts in front and sc in the rest – 11 sc
Round 5: 11 sc
Stuff the leg well.
Round 6: 5 dec, 1 sc in last – 6 sts
Fasten off and secure the stitches.
ARMS
The arms are made with the 5 stitches you left on each side of the body.
