NARA Tutorial Worksheet

How to Use NARA:

2. lick on Research Our Records on the Iar leIt side oI the screen
3. &nder the $earch Online -ox, click on Archival Research Catalog (ARC)
4. lick on the yellow ~$earch -utton on the top leIt side oI the screen
5. eIore you enter your search term, lick on the igital Copies ta-
6. Now, type in your search term (i.e. The Holocaust)
7. lick on a source. II it relates to your 'ig Question and you wish to use it, save the
document/picture/video and the link to your source in your Edmodo -ackpack under a
Iolder entitled 'NARA (ou must create this folder)
How to save a file onto Edmodo:
1. o to you li-rary and create a New File entitled ~Illinois -y clicking on the link la-eled
New next to a Iolder on the leIt side oI the screen.
2. o -ack to NARA. Right click on your source and click $ave As.
3. $ave source onto your desktop.
4. o to your Li-rary and lick the -utton ~Add to Backpack.
5. &pload File.
6. Once your document is in your -ackpack, highlight it and click on 'older on the
middle right side oI the screen.
7. heckmark the Iolder entitled ~Illinois.

Group Activit Assignment:
In your Research groups, you will have 10 minutes to -rainstorm 5 terms you can use to search
Ior inIormation on your topic. Have one student write down these 5 terms on a dry erase -oard.
AIter 10 minutes, an instructor will check your terms, and iI they approve the list, you may write
the 5 terms down here:
