Learning Objectives
1. Children will learn to work together as a group to tell a story.
2. Students will learn to think quickly and objectively.
3. Students will learn to use correct grammar.
4. Students will learn to use their bodies and movement to tell a story.
Materials
1. Paper
2. Writing utensil
Lesson
O ave a student start a sentence aloud with a subject (i.e. I, She, It)
O ave another student use a verb to tell what the subject is doing.
O %hen have the next student use a preposition to continue the sentence.
O Make sure students are writing each sentence down along with the name oI each sentence
structure.
O ou go on like this until you`ve completed a short story that the children have made up.
O ou can change the sentence structure however necessary.
DiIIerentiated Plan
O (For students with learning disabilities or ADD) While the class is creating their short
story they should come up with ways to act the story out using body movements and
props.
O When the story is Iinished, together the class can act out their story and talk about how
their body movements explained the story. (Auditory and visual approach)
Application Activity
O ave the children write short stories oI how their morning, day or week has gone.
O ou can get the students into groups to write short stories or sentences and correct the
grammar in class.
DiIIerentiated Application Activity
O (For children with learning disabilities or ADD) ave the children split into groups oI
Iour and pick one oI their short stories to act out.
O Allow 15 minutes to prepare and have each group take turns acting out their stories.
O AIter each story have a short discussion about how the movements explained the story.
Follow-up/omework
O ou can quiz the students on their grammar in class.
O Write sentences on the board Ior the children to correct or Iill in the blank.
O ave students correct sentences at home with Iamily.
