The Bangladesh furniture industry is one of the most promising growth sectors, with domestic consumption growing around 20% annually and export markets largely untapped. There are approximately 40,000 small furniture businesses employing around 180,000 people across the country. However, the furniture sector is struggling to reach its full potential due to various inhibiting factors. The exposure visit focused on understanding the current scenario of the wooden furniture industry in Bangladesh by interviewing 6 small shops specializing in wooden furniture production in one of the oldest furniture clusters in Dhaka.
