The easiest and most productive method of posting up a player is to have that player walk their defender down into the lane and then pivot, looking to seal their defender and gain post position Any offensive player can do this, as in this diagram 2 walks his man down and pivots while 5 fills the open spot and receives a pass from 1 and looks to make the post feed.

The action could be accomplished with a player in the corner, illustrated here with 5.

Another way to get a post up opportunity to is incorporate a bit of action from the flex offense. We accomplish this from our five out set up by having the player on top set a flex screen for the player in the corner after he cuts through the lan on a pass to the wing. The wing player on the side of the floor that the flex screen is taking place then sets a down screen for the player who set the flex screen, completing the flex action.

Oftentimes we will follow up the intial flex screen with another one as the ball is reversed. 5, who received the intial flex screen, sets another flex screen for 4 as 3 reverses the ball to other side. Following the screen, 5 spaces to the corner and you are back in your intial five out alignment.

The third way in which you can get a player a post up opportunity is to sets a staggered screen for the player in the corner, who curls the screens and cuts to the block looking to post up.

The action can also be accomplished with a single screen as the player at the top of the key cuts through the lane.
