My aim was to know that you could actually clean old, dirty and rusty pennies using only

vinegar and salt. When I read about the experiment I thought it would clean out all the rust of the pennies.

My hypothesis was that the pennies would be cleansed and looked brand new.

For this experiment I needed : Salt, plastic bowl, old and rusty coins, vinegar, a tea spoon and a measuring cup.

The Experiment

1. Pour white vinegar into a measuring cup.

2. Carefully pour the measured vinegar into the plastic bowl.

3. Then pour the salt into the tea spoon (1 tea spoon of salt)

4. Put the tea spoon of salt into the plastic bowl and mix them together.

5. Put in old and rusty coins in the plastic bowl and leave it there for 3 minutes.

6. Now you just have to sit and admire your coins.

My experiment didnt go as well as I thought because my hypothesis was wrong the vinegar only cleaned a bit of the rust not all of it. But it still looked a bit better.

In the experiment I observed that the vinegar is a very strong liquid can get rid of most of the rust out of that coins.

My experiment proved the hypothesis but not all reached to my expectations that the vinegar could entirely as clean as new coins.

Next time I might let the coins stay in the vinegar overnight or even a week.
