    In the fall of 2009, Robin Davies was an exceptional practicum student in my grade one classroom consisting of 16 students, many of whom were ESL. In this challenging environment, Robin was able to provide exemplary instruction, build meaningful relationships, and thoughtfully reflect upon her
    experiences.

    From the beginning of the practicum, Robin was very inquisitive and observant of the methods used for instruction in the classroom. She was able to incorporate engaging teaching practices in her own lessons which included strategies such as group work, center activities, and interactive Smart Board lessons. Robin was always sure to differentiate instruction for students at lower language proficiency levels and assessed student progress using checklists and observations based on relevant curriculum outcomes. Robin built rapport with students very quickly. She spent time with every student in the class, learning about their abilities and personalities. She created a safe environment where students were comfortable asking and answering questions and making contributions to the class. A mutual respect existed between Robin and the students and her care and concem for their learning and well being was evident on a daily basis.

    Robin was always conscientious and reflective of the lessons she delivered. Due to this, she continually implemented different techniques, changed the sequence of her lessons, or addressed concepts at deeper levels if needed. Her willingness to adapt and grow as a teacher was evident throughout the practicum. Robin was a very welcome addition to Chamberlain School and I would sincerely recommend her in any educational setting. She encompasses a natural affinity with children and has the work ethic needed to successfully lead a classroom of leamers.
