Popularly known as "Boaz," his first name is actually spelled as "Boas," as it appears on his official documents such as his identity card and passport. "Boaz" is actually his stylized first name which he prefers to be used on the back of his Persipura Jayapura shirt. When playing for the national team, he uses the name "Boas." His family name "Solossa" is commonly mistaken as "Salossa" or "Salosa. Boas was born in the Solossa family, a well-known family in the province of West Papua. His uncle, Jaap Solossa, was the governor of Papua before he died in 2005. Boas was born in a footballing family as well, being the youngest of five children. Almost all of them were professionals, including his brother Ortizan and Nehemia Solossa.
